Dallis Coffee

I have known David Dallis, president of Dallis Coffee in Ozone Park NY, for 10 years. During that time, David, who is a highly respected member of the specialty coffee industry, has been a valuable resource for several coffee stories I have written. It was a trip to Nicaragua and Costa Rica that David and I and Dallis vice president and general manager Jim Munson took in January 2003 that was the basis for my May 31 cover story in Wine Spectator magazine. In the past year, I have tried a number of coffees from the Dallis portfolio. I don’t think I’ve tasted as many good coffees from one roaster. The Dallis Rain Forest coffee is rich, spicy and full of flavor, easily the best Brazilian coffee I’ve ever had. I’m also a big fan of Nicaraguan Estate Santa Lucia, an estate we visited. But my favorite Dallis coffee is the exotic Yemen Mocha. You feel transported when you drink this coffee.
